James is a qualified personal trainer and spinning instructor-holding qualifications from the American Council of Exercise, Degree in Health and Exercise Waterford, Diploma in Recreation and Leisure Management Sligo, Spinning, SAQ training. Level 1 Coach Cycling Ireland.
A fitness enthusiast all his life James studied Recreation and
Leisure at third level in Sligo IT and graduated in 1999. Following
this James worked in the health and leisure industry for five years
before deciding to return to third level studies at Waterford
Institute of Technology to study more into human performance
testing. A skill, he uses with competitive athletes and his health
and fitness related clients.
James’ strength comes from his personal background in education
linked with his achievements in the sports field. He has overcome
asthma using alternative methods and competes nationally as an
amateur cyclist an indication that every obstacle can be tackled.
James has also expertise in endurance based events, having cycled
the USA Coast to Coast, 3000 miles in 25 days and completed numerous
National Council for the Blind elite challenges, six Tour de France
stages, Malin to Mizen and Gael Force Adventure challenge 2008.
James has also coached a number of athletes in these challenges all
with great success.
James has worked with professional cycling teams from Norway, USA, Australia and with the Irish National team in the FBD Insurance Rás and the Tour of Ireland 2007, 2008 and 2009.

As well as personal training James operates the leading spinning studio in the West of Ireland with classes for beginners, advanced and ladies. He also operates a number of circuit classes for runners and fitness enthusiasts. James also works with teams and individuals within a team, to develop their programmes for pre, post and during the competitive season.
